Live Music in the Living Room!
Olive Street Presents, Ltd., (Est 2021) is a non-profit organization based in Pittsburg, KS. Our Mission is to be a catalyst for live music presentation and programing in the folk tradition. We support live music, community, and culture by creating safe, inclusive, and respectful environments for musicians and listening audiences.
Since 2009, we've championed independent singer-songwriters who cross the country in the tradition of the American Troubadour. We create Talk-Free, Smoke-Free Listening Room experiences for national touring musicians who play for their living and for those who appreciate great live music. We've done this more than a hundred times and welcome collaboration with others to broaden, strengthen, and enrich the musical culture of our community.
Why Do We Do it?
Small towns are often passed over by national touring musicians in favor of larger venues, more convenient routing, and more potential revenue. Instead of leaving town to hear great musical performances, we aspire to support a live music culture in Pittsburg! Typically we open our doors for a house concert at 6 PM for a social hour, music starts at 7 PM and the evening winds down before 10 p.m. Performances are generally two 45 minute sets with a short break in between. At every concert, you can meet the musicians. Great food and friendship are part of the fun, so come early and share in our pot-luck meal and social hour before the show.
Come to a Show! You'll see a donation button on the upcoming show page to make your donation. House concerts are private events and your donation is your reservation to attend. All donations, 100 percent go to the “artist in residence.” We limit seating to 36 chairs to ensure everyone has a great concert experience.
What is FOLK Music? We define folk broadly as “the music of the people.” We embrace a diverse array of subgenres including, but not limited to, Appalachian, Americana, Blues, Bluegrass, Celtic, Cajun, Country, Global Roots, Old-Time, Singer-Songwriter, Traditional, Zydeco, and various fusions.
Support Our Work! We'd love to have you attend our shows, but if you can't, consider becoming a show sponsor, or gifting tickets to others is a great way to support our mission of bringing great live music to Pittsburg. National touring acts often require hotel lodging and meals, and such in-kind donations are also greatly appreciated. For employers, ask us about purchasing blocks of discounted tickets for use as employee rewards!
Refunds: Reserved seating assures our musicians are rewarded for their expenses and efforts. If your plans change, please let us know ASAP because we sometimes have a stand-by list of folks who would like to attend. Empty chairs are a bummer and unless we can fill your seat, we generally don’t offer refunds and your donation goes to the musicians.
